President Jon Purmont called the April meeting to order on Thursday the 11th at 7:01pm.
The minutes from the previous meeting were accepted as read. Sandy gave the Treasurer’s report and it was accepted.
Maureen reported that the Archives Committee was busy organizing. They are getting ready for the annual June Open House.
Jon reported that he has interviewed a handyman for the repairs needed in the house. He will follow-up as he has not heard back from him.
The West Haven retired teachers have booked the house for a luncheon. The WH Republican Party has inquired about renting the house for an event but, to date, has not committed.
Jon met with Art Stowe, the president of the Milford Historical Society. They are planning a joint meeting for sometime in the fall. It will likely be in Milford. At that time, our members will be able to view the 3 properties that the Milford society is responsible for.
Per our bylaws, officers were (re)elected. They are:
President – Jon Purmont
Vice-President – Susan Walker
Treasurer – Saundra McCauley
Asst Treasurer – Lois Doerr
Recording Secretary – Katalin Berger
Corresponding/Sunshine Secretary – Janice Frank
We also have a new monthly meeting hostess – Meari Avery. She will coordinate meeting refreshments.
The planned exhibit for the June 8 Museum Open House Day is a Native American Exhibit. The society is gathering artifacts to display with the help of Cathy Iaccarino. We also have several baskets of local Native American design. The group is developing activities for kids relating to Native Americans. They are also trying to get retired state archaeologist Nick Bellantoni to be at the house on that day.
The speaker for the evening was Michael Scanlon. Michael, who graduated from Notre Dame High School, is a semi-retired Foreign Service Officer.
The meeting was adjourned at 8.26pm.
Respectfully submitted, Lois Dioro
